2026-27 predictions here.

There's a lot of ifs in this prediction.
If Council, White and Renn can play they'll cover for the rooks and we will finally crack the get out of the first weekend code and give us some hope. This version will come close to winning the league but not quite.
I guess there's some doubt that those three old men can play and from what I saw the other night against Louisville I think this could be the most challenging season of Bill Selfs career and maybe threaten the incredible streak of making the tournament. 36 years or something like that. In this scenario a .500 or so conference record, if we make the dance a slot in the 8-9 range and getting blown out by the 1 seed if we squeak out a first round win. Boy 2022 seems like a long time ago.
I'm guessing the super seniors will be ruled eligible and we'll be all right. Finishing up at around 8-10 losses. We'll have some good wins, but some headscratchers like Self has been experiencing in recent years. When Louisville got hot from 3 it was like an instant replay of oh like every loss at ISU, every tournament loss, losses at places like Houston and BYU and even some against Silo Tech. As mentioned they give me some hope that the team will coalesce into a force that will get us past the first weekend, but beyond that I just don't know.
2 exhibitions will not tell the story on Stokes I realize but his line was pretty ugly against Louisville. He's a turnover machine and has not made a 3 yet.
White and Council were the only guys to make threes against Louisville. Against PState 3 guys made 1 3 pointer while Tre made 4. So in two games KU has only made 14 3's and White and Council have made 11 of those.
I'm usually the hopeful sort but I'm not feeling it so far. You can tell me to get lost (nicely please!) and tell me where I'm wrong.
What's your guess?
