ISU and Motor Motivation.

  • Selden sat, Greene hit the big shot, and Cliff got his Motor back. Exhaustion throughout the second half scared me to death, then the Big Dog took over inside. His first big play was when he held off Spangler to get the ball and all Spngler could do was hold and fall out of his shoe. Then the biggest rebound of the year and kick out to Mason over to Greene for the biggest three of the Season and we found out that we have a superstar in Kelly who took over the game in the last two minutes. I’m proud of the players that are starting to listen to their Coach.image.jpg

  • Self breaks another LCD screen. Maybe there will be no fine like the Big 12 Tournament and the Athletic Dept. will take care of this one.

  • I called out Bill Self on this site yesterday for losing the ISU game by benching Cliff. Perhaps I was wrong as this version of Cliff we saw in the OU game is exactly what we need moving forward. It may be that the ISU benching was the exact motivation needed as stated by many others.

The other thing I like about Cliff being in the game this much is that we did not have to see Lucas on the floor. This 8 man rotation we saw last night including Cliff, Greene and Devonte off of the bench is the rotation I would like to see every night. If we are not in terrible foul trouble there is not much reason to see Lucas or Mickelson in the game. Maybe for 3-5 minutes to give guys rest but to me the 8 guys who should be on the floor for significant minutes were the 8 we saw last night. Svi is still struggling and we should all probably wait for his best ball to be played next year.

  • @joeloveshawks trust self, he knows these kids!! I’m guessing, just guessing, we might need one of those other bigs for the Texas game…

  • @Crimsonorblue22 You are probably right but as I stated I really hope it is just for a few minutes to give Perry, Cliff or Mari a blow. Lucas was awful against ISU who does not have any true post players. How bad will he look against UT who has one of the best front courts in the country?

  • @joeloveshawks Texas is much slower, Ridley doesn’t shoot the 3.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Good point. Either way I hope Cliff and Mari and Perry can stay out of foul trouble. Should be a hell of a game. Pretty tough stretch for us with ISU, OU and UT all in a row. If we can pull one out on Saturday we will be in great shape.

  • @joeloveshawks if we can get our guys to run and make their bigs get up the floor, we have a chance. They were trapping at half court, TCU was scoring off that. Texas was playing a zone too. Really want to win this game. Everyone!!! I mean everyone wants us knocked off, even the announcers!!!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Mushburger was physically aroused as he gushed about the most exciting team in the nation - The Cyclones. Wait till the first of February on Big Monday at the Phogg when the Motor is finely tuned. #11 is right around the corner. One pundit said that the term motor has been used so much that he expected KU to be on the cover of Car and Driver.

  • @wrwlumpy KU fans love our players w/motor!!!

  • @wrwlumpy

I cannot stand Mussburger and why he is still on TV? He contributes next to nothing to the broadcast…at least he did not refer to Holly Rowe as “smoking hot” so we should count ourselves lucky.

Holy Rowe absolutely jinxed KU with her comment about OU’s comebacks last season; Coach Self was not happy.

Also, I noticed that, unlike the previous ESPN broadcast, they did not turn down the crowd noise and you could tell AFH was loud…real loud and the announcers were at times hard to hear. 🙂

  • I noticed that too! Good to hear the AFH rocking! I’ve always felt like the turn down the crowd on us most of the time. I know we are louder than UT and sometimes it doesn’t sound like it on TV. Sixth man was big late I thought. All the boys were praising the fans on twitter after the game.
