Felt like Bill Self WAS KU Athletics for a good stretch. Back when we sucked at other sports. He was always calm and well spoken and reasonable in a time where other larger than life coaches seemed like ungracious turds. Was easy to put all our faith in Self for a long time. Even when the recruiting violations landed, it felt like Self and us against the world. Other big programs doing the exact same shit and getting off scot free. Bill and KU Bball were one and the same for a long time. So, it’s hard to not think about things in that context, I get it. But Bill himself said “you need to look at things in 5 year chunks, maybe less than that now”. And that’s a 2 way street. How he’s seeing the job, and how the job (and us) are seeing him.
