@BucknellJayhawk3 Every year we have players step up into roles they didn’t have the previous season. Mason kind of fell under the radar going into last year and became POY so its definitely hard to predict which player will become “the guy”. Sometimes its all about opportunity, sometimes its about personal development and growth as a player and teammate. If we are talking which player has the opportunity to make the biggest leap its obviously Azubuike. If he can stay on the court his production is vital to this team. He’s the biggest boom or bust we got. I guess Preston could be lumped into that as well but as a freshman we know he’s going to have times where he struggles, its expected. I think we know what we are going to get from Devonte and Malik (although Malik hasn’t done it in a KU uniform yet). I would say we more or less know what we are getting from Svi as well. I would bet at least one of these steps up because of the opportunity available. Newman would seem like the most likely to do so with the reputation he has for scoring and coming into the lineup alongside a very good guard to play off. Vick is the 2nd guy I expect to make the leap. Just natural progression in the program, will probably play 900-1000 minutes this year and should be more consistent from a production standpoint. I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t capitalize on the opportunity this year. Definitely lots of questions surround this team but every team has them. Maybe this team has more of them then some other seasons but there’s a tremendous amount of talent and experience still around
