C5 struggles but finishes 21/11

It took C5 a half to find the way play against height C5 likely will not face again this season, but when Coach Bill Self gave the guys some stuff that worked, C5 proved once again there is no front court he cannot hold his own against. And if Perry Ellis had come to play the first half, C5 likely would have gotten untracked sooner!
Tonight it was Hunter and Landen that bowed up their necks and said we don’t care how tall they are, when Bragg and Diallo got the willies in the red woods–the shakes in the sequoias.
Lucas really found his game out there and deserves a start to acknowledge a job well done.

You’re at the crux of it, but only Self knows for sure. Gathers could drive Self back to the Jam Tray. Hard to say. I would go with Hunter for your reasons, but man Landen needs a pat!

Great win. I’ll take it. Practice will probably be intense. Much more to the game than shooting the 3 ball.

Ugly and slow first half, but a very good second half. Imagine what the score would have been if they had shot even average from three?

If I had to rank the C5
1 Lucas clearly the best overall of the composite. Held his ground on the low post D and he dunked. Multiple times!!

Hunter and he wasn’t far behind LL but his silly foul of tackling a guy dropped him down. He ran the floor well and was rewarded.

3a Diallo. Limited minutes but scored while in the game. His D was horrible at best. Doesn’t talk on the floor for a guy who speaks 4 languages he needs to communicate batter on D.
4 or 3b. Traylor. Nothing spectacular. Nothing too horrible. Got pushed around a little on D but was the only guy who took a shot from the ft line in the sweet spot of the zone. Bonus point there.
- Bragg. Wow terrible D. Non existent on O. Wasn’t his best showing by far. There was a reason him and Diallo sat most of the second half.
Perry’s first half was bad. Even the announcers commented on how he she’s away from bigger defenders. I agree with them that Self pulled him aside at half time and in my opinion may have reached up and pulled Perrys head out. Great second half though and the Perry we are used to seeing.

UCI Coach talked after the game that they are the team that usually wears down the other Bigs. Then he went on to say that they had never faced a team that had this many to throw at the Anteaters. Depth of the Bastards is what’s going to do it for us. We realize that we are blessed with our guards and Perry. Hunter and Landon made a statement last night that they belong. By the way, when Diallo came out of the game, I realized that Wiggs never got yelled at like Coach screamed at him.
