NEW MEXICO STATE AGGIES
-
@wrwlumpy 365 lbs? Probably why he wasn’t drafted and currently resides in the NBA D league. His baby brother plays for NMSt at a svelte 335 lbs. Looks like he took a red shirt this year.

@brooksmd That was the first Photo that came up. The last name on the roster made me think it was him.
-
He averages 4.1 mpg, 0.6 ppg and 0.2 rpg; a non-factor. New Mexico State went 10-9 in their non-conference schedule.
New Mexico State has 5 Canadian players, 2 French players 1, from South Africa and 1 from Cameroon for a total of 9 foreign players and 6 American players…they make Gonzaga and its 4 foreign players look like the All-American team.

@Crimsonorblue22 Mine too, but Saul runs a close second.
-
New Mexico State has a worse court storming than K State.
-
Lumpy, the court Storming was at Utah Valley and not at New Mexico State and it was last season.
-
@oldhwkfan I w/ya! I have no idea how many times we watched reruns of BB? Genius! Better call Saul is getting more crazy each time! Love all the references.
-
@wrwlumpy Tremendously great players for sure. Sam passed away just this past year. I try not to think about age & the other half hounds me about “You’re not old!” all the time, but I’m so close to that reference sometimes I feel older than dirt.
-
@wrwlumpy …But UMKC did beat misery !!!
-
@globaljaybird
Everybody beat misery…

Sam was involved in one of the last big civil rights cases in Kansas City when the Rockhill Racket Club refused him membership. He died last year as a resident of Kansas City. He held his own against Chamberlain and Kareem. Bob Cousey was the coach and I remember the night Tiny fouled out after Sam had fouled out against the Lakers. Cousey was then kicked out of the game and the KC Kings went into overtime to defeat the Lakers that had Gail Goodrich and Wilt with his Head Band. In my life I’ve never seen anyone who could score inside the paint, no matter who was playing defense better that Nate Archibald. When he would score, Kareem would just shake his head as if he could not believe that anyone could make a defensive player look so stupid.

Wow, those names are a blast from the past.
-
@wrwlumpy Great post lump. Sam was a next door neighbor to the OB GYN hat delivered my youngest son. They lived West of Mission Rd about 86th or so. I did plumbing work for the doc & Sam was quite the tennis player then & also very friendly. Oh, did I say he was one helluva BB player too ?!!

Beautiful campus.
I’d love to see the old time pitchers like Walter Johnson, Pete Alexander, Lefty Grove and others.
I’d love to see them reincarnated into 2015 with the same pitching ability and see a coach bring him out of the game in the 6th or 7th inning because he reached their pitch count! Walter Johnson had 531 complete games and also had a few saves each year. 350 innings pitched every year. How did they do it then, but can’t handle it today?

Love New Mexico. Have some good times out there. Santa Fe is a must see, especially the plaza.
I’ll believe they are senior laden group, meaning they most likely don’t make many mistakes.
-
@wrwlumpy Thanks for the photo sharing, lumpy. I motorcycled thru Las Cruces several years ago; retain fond memories of the campus and environs. You have stirred my wanderlust to pack the Explorer and head back to the Southwest before these failing eyes betray me. Easy to envision the lure of this geographical site for so many foreign players. If the New Mexico State BB recruiter should ever decide to move eastward, perhaps Bill Self should make room for him at KU.

Didn’t see the other post with this pic.

Look again. I think they are showing four fingers with the thumb in. Could that be final four?
