Is There Ever A Good Loss?

  • Some coaches emphasize there are good losses. I don’t call last night a good loss, l call it a BLESSING! We all knew that evetually free throws would be an issue. What if this didn’t happen til a round in the big dance? We lose and are done for another year!

I imagine that strategy is all ready in place for this in the future because the scenerio will probably come up multiple times.

This can happen whether we are leading or trailing. We’re ahead late, they foul and get the ball back and milk the clock. We’re behind they do the same thing, foul and we never get another SHOT. With that strategy anybody can foul— it doesn’t have to be a walk on.

Bill will figure it out. Glad it’s over and will never be an issue again!

  • @Gunman NO!!! There is no such thing as a good loss. That is why they keep score. The winners gloat and move on. The losers hang their heads and go home with their tails between their legs. And you are right. This blueprint has been distributed to every coach and team in the nation. The problem is what can we do about it? In every close game in the future, and there will be many, are we going to have to sit our post player on the pine in the last 5 minutes? If there is a remedy, I would sure like to hear it.

  • No. Never. Ask Vince Lombardi.

  • Remember the other day when there were posters who were thanking Squeaky and Scott Drew for Gifting us losses…

  • @Fightsongwriter

The Sixers built their current team by tanking entire seasons. 😄

  • THIS was a good loss.

For Oklahoma, Kansas State, Texas Tech and West Virginia.

  • @Gunman Either you are a scary optimist or you sat 5 ft. in front of your tv last night, hugging your seeing-eye dog! Or you have typed a comical post of subtle irony? As a stretch, maybe Self has motivated his entire squad to practice free throws…in order that they might save him from future vociferous rebuke and retribution. Although I can’t really envision him digging his way into such a mire again.
