No Pressure, No Diamonds

  • It’s interesting how the different players personalities show up in the intros.

Malik looks down a couple of times- a little introverted?

Devonte’ is clearly comfortable in front of as many poeple as you want to throw at him. Appears to be a natural leader.

KJ and Charlie really like the crowd - Like the crowd/attention too much?

Dok’s size really showed up walking down the aisle. I can’t wait to see him set a devastating pick!

Svi looks like he doesn’t like human contact…

Lightfoot doesn’t really know what to do.

IMHO It reveals more about the team than the PSU exhibition did.

Yeah, neither one is shy, especially on the court. You never want to tell a player not to shoot it, but I’m hoping both can improve their shot selection.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Malik is pretty comfortable (and hilarious) in all the interviews I’ve seen. I don’t think he’s introverted, just Southern polite maybe?

  • @DanR I really don’t know. Just curious. I hope Bill doesn’t have to urge him out of his shell. I was/am expecting more of an alpha personality.

  • @dylans I think he was a lil humbled after his first year. I was impressed how he handled last year, he really bought in and looked like a teammate even though he couldn’t play. I really like him.

  • Roflmao – Mitch doesn’t know what to do? lol - -come on man poor old Mitch he is Loyal through and through lol - -I like the kid has the heart of a Lion just not the most gifted right? lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 just a bit awkward is all I meant. Shoulda said he doesn’t know what to do with himself.

  • @dylans

The 17 US INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES need your interpretative ability. Apply. Competitive salary and benefits. Possible promotion to Deep State. Equal opportunity employer…

  • Hmmm … we used the “no pressure, no diamonds” phrase here. Remember? The point being that until you give players game action, where there is real pressure, they can’t develop fully, thus compromising their ability to be fully ready for March (er, Diallo). You can’t get the diamond without the pressure. Nice to see KU/Self adopting it.

@jayballer54 Gotta ask, and curious, why do you think Lightfoot has the “heart of a lion”?

Well maybe not the correct choice of words on my part maybe, I dunno just really strikes me as a kid that gives it a 110% maybe that’s part of his downfall if he has one - -he tries TO hard - -I don’t think anyone can question his love for the school. - Maybe not the most gifted for sure -BUT the kid puts out all on the floor I just tend to get behind that kind of a kid easier. - - I mean ya he not going to be a scorer, but yet ANY points we get from him has to be a bonus -he hustles , grabs a couple of rebounds here and there, dives on the floor - loves to blocks shots and does - -he just bust his ass - -wish more kids were or would take that type of approach. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
