Royals vs Rangers -- Game 2
-
Here we go. Looks like the only change in the lineup for the R’s tonite is Whit replacing Mondesi at 2nd. Oh and I think I saw Butera on the list so he must be in place of Salvy.
-
And there’s more. Salvy at the DH; Cuthbert at 3rd in place of Moose; and Bonifacio in RF. Karns on the hill vs Hamels.
-
Gordo takes one for the team in the middle of his back.
-
Cain gaps one to rc field scoring Gordo from 1st. Cain at 2nd. Hos out on infield grounder Cain to 3rd.
-
Salvy strikes out swinging at garbage.
-
Cuth walks.
-
Whit grounds hard up the middle but great play by 2nd baseman gets Cuth at 2nd. Cain stranded at 3rd. Royals 1 - 0
-
Rangers half of first looks like Karns went 3 up and down racking up 2 SO’s. Esky led off 2nd with a fly out.
-
Bonifacio flys to center. 2 outs.
-
And Butera stikes out.
-
After first Rangers hitter drives Cain to the 407 mark in cf for first out, very next pitch the second hitter goes deep to lf. Game tied.
-
Karns walks next hitter.
-
Karns gives up a 2 run shot just inside the rf foul pole. Rangers 3 - 0 After good first, Karns struggling this inning.
-
Royals go 3 up and down in their half of the 3rd. Not really making Hamels work hard. He’s averaging 15 pitches/inning. Karns 21/inning.
-
@brooksmd how did they get 3? Just saw score
-
Never mind I read your posts
-
Karns gets the Rangers 3 up and down. After 3 it’s Rangers 3 - 1
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Are you back home or still up in Lawrence?
-
Highlight of the Royals 4th was Whit flying out to the rf wall. 3 up and down.
-
Another dinger for the Rangers. 4 - 1
-
Esky leading off the 5th and grounds out on first pitch.
-
Bonifacio lines softly to the pitcher after 2 pitches.
-
Butera gaps one to the lc field fence for a 2 out double and a hair flip.
-
@brooksmd still in Lawrence, home sweet home tmrw
-
And as usual Gordo swings at a pitch low and off the plate for strike 3. That’s how you pitch Gordo, low and outside and if you can bounce it in the dirt even better.
-
Gallo gets his 2nd hr of the night in the rf upper deck. Rangers 5 - 1
-
Oof
-
My Nats walked in the tying run in the 7th. Now 3-3
-
@brooksmd getting ugly! To bad they showed his parents!
-
There’s a interesting stat. Royals starters in first 15 games gave up 4 hrs. Karns has matched that tonight.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Whose parents?
-
Oliver Perez pitching from the wind up he’s a big herkey jerky mess but somehow hes got first 2 out this inning. Don’t most relievers just pitch from the stretch even with a clean frame these days?
-
Now he’s pitching from the stretch for the 3rd guy. Scratching my head.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 No MLB tonight so have to watch Rangers broadcast on FS so I have no idea whose parents they showed.
-
@approxinfinity Yep. SOP
-
6 - 1 Rangers on that 2 out single after walking 2 with 2 outs. Runners are the corners. Karns is done and Strahm in.
-
Cuthbert grounds out on first pitch.
-
@brooksmd karns
-
Hamels threw 21 pitches in the first and hasn’t thrown more than 15/inning since. Merrifield triples off the rf wall.
-
Back to Hamels pitching. Royals have been swinging at first pitches all night.
-
Esky grounds out to 3rd. Whit still at 3rd with 2 outs.
-
And the Royals leave Whit at 3rd.
-
Esky with a great double play. With his back to the infield he gathered in a shallow fly ball, turns and fires a strike to Hos to catch the runner returning to first. Then Cuthbert on the next hitter misses what should have been an easy out when he totally misplays a shallow popup. Hitter ends up at 2nd.
-
After 7 Rangers 6 - 1.
-
And the Royals go 3 up and down in the 8th. Easy outing so far for Hamels tonight against the Royals.
-
Esky had a great play! How did hoz get on?
-
Comeback!
-
Glad that fiasco is over. Royals did manage to plate one in the 9th. Final Rangers 6 - 2 ttfn
-
I lived in a township called Karns in Tennessee for four years. It was a depressing place. I know that guy can pitch better. Just had a few bad lapses.
