Article About Perry's Brother

  • @BShark it’s like an oxymoron

  • Super nice and extremely funny young man. Once you meet him, you won’t forget him! Had the pleasure last year during the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. Very happy he decided to attend KU!

  • @KansasComet seems crazy how opposite he is of Perry! Perry did get better, but those first years he could hardly look up. They should have practiced together! Pretty impressive parents there!

  • No doubt, pretty impressive parents! I think Perry’s two younger brothers, he has another, both like basketball, but would rather concentrate on their studies. That’s the vibe I got and there is nothing wrong with that.

Anyone that watched what Perry had to go through those first two seasons, WOW!, that makes one pause and say is it really worth it?

But Perry turned out to be one of the toughest, most persevering players I have ever watched developed. And by the end he was one of the most complete college basketball players at KU AND I believe it was Perry finally that convinced Bill Self that iron pyrite could be alchemized into real gold and that 4 out 1 in was something Bill could adapt to.

Bill Self is a sponge about absorbing things and changing his own mind.

But once Self’s mind is set, or once Self thinks we are dealing with a basic principle of the game, he is like trying to use granite for modeling clay.

Perry changed Self’s mind about 4-1 basketball and about what Perry could do from trey.

I cannot think of another player in Self’s tenure that changed Self’s mind on an Okie Ball principle.

    Perry Ellis changed it twice.

And he introduced Bill Self to a new level of quiet. 😄

  • @jaybate-1.0 Perhaps the Villanova game is still too fresh in my memory, so I’ll wait, and gain a historical perspective on Perry Ellis’ tenure at KU. Judging any player’s career and legacy requires a complex framework (for me, anyway)–and the analysis is different for each player. It’s always contextual, far beyond simple W’s/Ls. Each KU forward gets judged differently. Shady. DJax. Marcus. Thomas Robinson. KYo. Perry Ellis. What does each year’s team need their 4man to give? We are seeing it right now with Carlton Bragg… This could be game to game, or for the season.

    The last game hurt, but…

I have seen so many last games of great players hurt!

Andrew Wiggins hurts me more than Perry’s, because of Wiggins Saturn sized ability.

So I try to gauge their whole seasons, or careers, when looking back.

Perry had a great last season.

  • @jaybate-1.0 Agree he did. And he thus proved how vital he was for that particular KU squad, thus you saw what happened by subtraction.
Thomas Robinson had a bitter final game, but I dont think he could have done anything else in his 3yrs at KU–nothing tarnishes TRob’s tenure. Other than I could greedily wish he came back for a 4th season. TRob>>Mitch McGary. Without which, Self chose to resort to some old Big10 tricks thru EJ…

  • @jaybate-1.0 About your signature line… Fizzourah can indeed move their bball team to Mexico, as they are not worthy of any federal subsidy. Bluff called. No deal. The “wall” can then keep Mizzoo out! Problem solved.
