I swear something is weird with him picking so early. Not his personality type to not drag this out as long as possible. It is either him trimming his list or it is him picking now because he wants to come in early. He is 19 years old already, and would be 20 by the time he got on campus next season. He HAS to show out in college next year if he wants to make it to the NBA. Would not be shocked to see him pull a Hamidou Diallo.
Fwiw, UCLA is 3 over right now, with no seniors. But they should have at least a couple of guys go pro out of that team. Still, getting 4 to leave seems like a stretch. PT seems like it could be a stretch if Ali and Wilkes are still there. Add in Jules Bernard to that group. I just don’t see it.
USC is full on scholarships. Would have to force someone out or hope someone goes pro. But if that relationship is done, that’s crazy to me. Much better chance at good PT there than UCLA or KU.
Oregon has scholarships available. PT available. I’d think they have to be the favorite upon further examination.
KU obviously has a scholarship available. They also potentially have a starting spot to offer him. But not as much PT as Oregon.

@BShark That’s my thought on it. I know we’ll have Lightfoot and Big Dave in the front court…perhaps a Silvio, or would they entertain go to a 4 out with KJ? Looks like we’re going to need some big guys, too.

USC just picked up another guy today, so at this point I think it is more than safe to say they’re out.

Ryan thinks Cassius is cutting his list to three & those three will be, UCLA , KU & Oregon. He says it’s a huge bonus that we are getting Cassius here for late night - we need to knock it out of the park with him when he is here. STILL NO FAT LADY - - not yet anyways
Sure seems like a stretch for us to pull him off the Coast and UCLA - -they have a lot going in their favor - -lots of friends on the UCLA roster , local , Mom went to UCLA & with his dad wanting him to go to USC - -but that doesn’t look feasible now - -so dad probably now pulling for him to go to UCLA - -we all know how important it is to keep mom happy - -logically looks like they got to much in their favor - -but yet - -NO FAT LADY and she can’t sing with a hoot so don’t show up lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Even if we miss, I’m not worried. Bill will land a top wing somehow. A guaranteed starting spot at a place that puts Wings in the NBA every single year is too tempting for someone.

Boy, I’d think Oregon would be the favorite at this point. But that is just based on competition for PT. I just hope that this ends soon and doesn’t get stretched into January trying to build up hype.

UCLA has had a lot of talent and lots of players in the NBA recently but not much to show for as a program.

@FarmerJayhawk I agree that they are probably the emotional “favorite”, but once they sit down and do the pros and cons, I think the choice ends up being Oregon and a guaranteed 30+ MPG.
I think this stretches to at least December though. I don’t think the choice has even been made at this point. UCLA has borderline NBA talent on their roster that is in the way. If Wilkes doesn’t look like he is gone, I’m not sure that there is room for him. That roster has like 6 legit Wing players on it next season no matter what.
Bernard, Wilkes, Singleton, Smith, and Ali are all there right now. Adding Stanley would be 6. They have another top 100 wing coming in already. If neither Bernard or Wilkes is leaving, there isn’t even a starting spot guarantee there imo. And maybe not even still if Ali is back for his senior season.
To me, just seems like a strange place to go.
KU is kind of in a similar boat, but there is easily 25 minutes to be had if Grimes shows out early that he is a OAD.
Oregon has nothing on that roster and he has a clear path to 30+ MPG.
But we’ll see how it goes.

Mercy - I say one thing North Carolina fans sure don’t lack for confidence - they sure seem like they feel that JRE is their’s , talking saying that JRE didn’t realize that any other places took their basketball as seriously as KU did until his visit at Chapel Hill - REALLY ? - come on JRE isn’t that stupid - -we will find out a lot after next weekend. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Can’t fault them for having some confidence in this one. They did everything right. Bring in Green his good friend. Bring in Bacot, his future teammate at IMG.
UNC has its recruiting momentum back. Probably in as good as spot for Cole Anthony as any as well. Would have really liked to see JRE’s final visit be KU but its Arizona. This whole situation has felt a bit off since the summer. Hope it turns out being nothing in the end

To me. - -I’m not really concerned about Arizona , so basically for all intents and purposes well as far as I look at it anyways is , we ARE his last visit. - Like you said we have to just totally hit it out this weekend , which I believe they will. I know UNC is stiff challenge but I still think in the end he still has a lot of connections here to KU right? - I mean countless games he has come to he knows how the fan base is insane - -the atmosphere. UNC has nothing on us in tradition. Ya sure they have won a few more championships - but we are right there as far as development of players , and players in the NBA -I think his mom went here to school didn’t she? - -Lester played here , ya he played under ROY but still he played at KU , I’m quite sure JRRE has plenty of friends still here that are in his ear too about playing at KU.

Haven’t seen it yet, I don’t think they announced last years until during the week. If I remember correctly they brought in mumble rapper Lil Yachty. Good for the kids.

I’m not as worried about Arizona but strategically you always want the last visit if your the perceived favorite, something KU isn’t getting here.
His KU connections are well known. You stated them.
JRE did an instragram live feed with Green. Some comments, basically sounded as if he was telling UNC fans needed to get on Green, when asked the question- that Green wasn’t the one sold on going to UNC (But JRE is). That’s how I saw it, could be wrong, I hope I’m wrong.
For me, the flags raised when he went to IMG. Its good for JRE, better competition, facility, etc. More room for him to grow. But it wasn’t good for KU geographically and in recruiting. And now you have other influences involved- Green mostly. He’ll also visit UA with Green, I don’t think that friendship can be blown off here. It may be a stronger influence then we thought?
Of course KU has its shot this weekend. Self gets to reinforce his message and the one big advantage Bill has in this fight was getting to coach him. That was weeks worth of unofficial recruiting, an advantage I hope prevails. If that didn’t sell him nothing else is going to. Late Night does nothing, he’s seen it before. Other recruits are here as well officially so the staff will have to juggle time. He knows everything about KU already. This is down to JRE and Self, nothing else in my mind. That relationship has to win out.
Again all just my personal opinion but I think he favors UNC right now and picks them. I hope its misguided thoughts. I hope the IMG thing was just about JRE spreading his wings (figuratively).
I know we’ve talked about JRE a lot for good reason. There were times it was rumored he was a silent commit. But those rumblings never became fact and since then everything but the Team USA experience has shifted this recruitment elsewhere and primarily to Roy. I really do hope I’m just reaching and have this situation wrong

KU made Kofi Cockburn’s cut to 8 and he is setting up visits. Not sure where he is in the pecking order but he could be in play if KU missing on some top targets early.

Looks like they announced the Tuesday of Late Night week last year. If that is anything to go by maybe we get something later today or tomm

Don’t know. If KU gets one of his 5 OVs will be telling I would assume.
