  1. Gross negligence, internal
  2. Doing some evil shit for their own benefit
  3. Doing some evil shit for someone elses benefit
  4. Hacked by amateurs
  5. Hacked by foreign agents
  6. Most of the above

I assume the worst. Will go with 6.

It appears they have been deliberately hiding the extent of the impact all day.
